Butte Central senior Egan Lester recently committed to Montana Tech to continue his football career. Lester made his announcement on Twitter on December 18, 2020. Lester thanked his family, friends, and coaches for their support of his football career in his statement.
Lester finished the season No. 3 in in rushing in Class “A” with 736 yards and 7 touchdowns on 134 carries. The Maroons only played 6 games due to Covid-19 cancellations. His 121 yards per game tied him for the top spot in Class “A”. He was named to the Western “A'” All-Conference Team s a 2nd team running back in both his junior and senior seasons.
In addition to his success on the football field, Lester has excelled as a Maroon basketball player and a sprinter on the Maroon Track Team. In the summer months he has been a standout on the Butte Miners American Legion baseball team.
“We are very proud of Egan and we are super excited that he will be joining Coach Kyle Samson and the Oredigger Football Program,” said Butte Central Football Coach Don Peoples. “It’s always exciting for our players to have the opportunity to go on to the next level and continue their education,” he added.
Egan is the son of BC graduates Ed and June (Pusich) Lester from the Class of 1984. He is an honors student with a 4.02 GPA at Butte Central. He will officially sign his letter of intent at a ceremony after the Christmas break.
